A few years ago, I telephoned a mentor and said "I do not know if i would like to measure in British Columbia". She was surprised and asked for more information. I told her that I had found a billboard for what appeared to be a stimulating job opportunity in BC.

Now mentors are individuals who set an honest example for us and offer wise advice. this is often exactly what my mentor, Elsie offered me.

She said "First you opt if you would like to use for the work . Then you wait to ascertain if they invite you to an interview. If they are doing , decide if you would like to participate. Write down questions, tour the world then wait to ascertain if they provide you the work . If they are doing , then decide if you would like to measure in British Columbia ."

Great advice! She broke the entire process down into variety of small steps, Each lined up during a domino fashion where one had to fall before subsequent one was live .

Jethro Bodine from The Beverly Hillbillies was an adult with a grade seven education who always simplified difficult concepts during a humourous manner. If he had been my mentor he likely would have said "Don't commence to swimmin' til you hit the water".

So how does one handle a world that causes anxiety and seems to force decision-making?

Quit that specialize in what you can't control - Our twenty-four hour television and websites are crammed with opinions, drama and crises. Turn them off!
Listen to your self-talk - If you discover yourself thinking "What if... " meaning you're considering things that haven't even happened yet. Don't borrow trouble by letting your mind catastrophize over events that "might" but probably "won't" happen.
Distract yourself with positive activities - Play a parlor game with friends, do some volunteer work, learn a replacement skill, choose a walk, clean a drawer, sing. Deliberately begin doing things which will busy your mind with interesting thoughts.
Wait - My grandmother wont to always say "This too shall pass" and she or he was usually right. the character of life often uses time to resolve issues or prevent trouble from occurring. consider what percentage times you knew exactly how something would end up only to get that you simply were wrong. simply because you think that it or plan it doesn't suggest that it'll happen.
So, before you force yourself to form decisions or lose sleep about things which may happen, consider the wise words of my mentor and Jethro.

"Don't commence to swimmin' til you hit the water".
